I was curious if there is a non-religous way of saying “fellowship”? Probably is, I just can’t think about it at the moment. Last night the guys had some “fellowship” at my house. We had our monthly Men’s Steakout. It is a great time of “fellowship” with all the guys. Lonnie Shrader had a great talk on controling your soul and body and keeping it in check.
Next month we are going to do a very cool Men’s Steakout. It will be nothing like we have ever done before. It is going to “rock”!!! Don’t miss it.
Have you ever had a great idea and told others about it and they get excited about it too?
You start telling everyone about how great this idea is, and the more people you tell the more you think it is a great idea because everyone is excited about it.
Then 3 months later you still haven’t done anything with it. Man, I have been guilty time and time again on this one. I have a lot of great ideas. But, there is a missing lync that has been there for me and probably for anyone like this. It is EXECUTION!!
When you get down to it…..You can have the greatest ideas in the world, but if you don’t execute them, you will never accomplish your dreams.
Think about the guy who had the idea of “the drive thru window”. What if that IDEA was never executed. I mean, what if he just talked about it and shared the idea with people and never “pulled the trigger”. I mean, we would all have to walk into starbucks or mcdonalds instead of going through the drive thru.
I believe there are geat ideas on the inside of you and me that are waiting to be drawn up and executed.
For all the sports people out there: After a game when players and coaches are interviewed, 99% of the time their reason for winning or losing is EXECUTION. They attribute their success or failure to whether they executed the plays and strategy that they had drawn up before the game.
As I consider what took place yesterday at Harvest, it seems that if people should understand that it easy to pray and communicate with God. Lonnie Shrader (our guest speaker) had a simple, but yet very bold message on prayer. Prayer is not something you do just to get things from God. Prayer is what MOVES GOD!!!! If things are going the way you think they should, then check with the DIRECTOR of life and find out why.
Sometimes we feel that we have prayed and prayed and things aren’t working out. The question I think you have to ask yourself is…. “Am I praying what God wants me to pray”? I John 5:14 says, “Now this is the confidence (boldness) that we have in Him (Jesus), that if we ask ANYTHING ACCORDING TO HIS WILL, He hears us. (15) And if He hears us, whatever we ask, we KNOW that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
According to this scripture, we need pray according to the will of God. You might ask; How do I know the will of God? You pray!! Not for stuff, but for wisdom and understanding of what the will of God is for you. Ephesians 1:15-23 is great scripture to read re: the will of God.
In the famous words of our dear friend M.C. Hammer, “YOU GOT TO PRAY JUST TO MAKE IT TODAY”
On Wednesdays I get to go to a place called The Bridge. It is a place for teens who have addiction or behavioral problems. I really enjoy getting to go. There is a program that a young lady here does at The Bridge and public schools all over the city. They talk about subjects like: Integrity, Compassion, Character, Teamwork, etc. These guys surprisingly enjoy our visits and look forward to us coming every week.
This morning I read Pastor Kevin’s Blog and he talked about teamwork. Interesting I thought!! I wanted to share this video with you guys re: teamwork. Be blessed!!
Sunday was a great worship experience at Harvest Church. The time that was spent during our time of Worship and Praise was great, AGAIN!! The subject Pastor Kevin talked about was “God works with Man”. One thing that stuck out to me was that a lot of times we are waiting on God to “move” and the whole time God is saying, “It is your turn to move”. As I was reading this morning, I began to read the book of James. Talk about how God works with man!! In fact, the bible says that Faith without works is dead. To me, that means that we need to be in motion backing up what we say and believe re: our faith.
A couple of things to take away from Sunday.
1. Don’t sit back and do nothing while you “wait on God”
2. Don’t fantasize about doing these “great things for God” if you are not willing to volunteer in your local church.
3. It is hard to steer a parked car….once moving it gets easier. Don’t just sit back and do nothing, God can’t direct your steps if you are not taking any.
God truly does work with man. But man has to take steps.
Be encouraged. Jesus came to serve, not to be served. All we need to do is “follow Christ”!!
I love being able to help develop leaders and hang out with those I get the oppurtunity to lead. Tonight we have Youth Leader Gathering at my house where we will eat together and brainstorm together re: the upcoming months at Redline. Tomorrow is Brooklyn’s last Softball Game of the year. They only lost one game all year, but tomorrows tournament actually says who is the CHAMPION!! Have a great weekend!!
Remember, you are leading or following, and which ever one you do, do it with all your heart!!
I have heard people say this and I am guilty of saying this as well. A lot of people think that their vote will not be heard or counted. But reality is, we still live in a democratic country and our votes still count, so go and make it count!!
Yesterday at Harvest Church was definately a great service. It was a little different from the norm!! But hey, Arbys was right, different is good. But, reality is, it was not different if compared to the things that happened in the bible. Worship was amazing, and led right into God touching people in a lot of different ways.
Pastor Kevin spoke a few minutes re: the baptism of the Holy Spirit, then gave people an oppurtunity to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. I think it was 8 people who came and desired the gift that God wanted to give them yesterday. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is a gift for anyone who desires it. God freely gives us salvation (well, it had a high price tag, but Jesus took care of the cost for us) as well as the gift of the Holy Spirit. Pastor Kevin went throught the book of Acts and did a great description of the difference between being baptized into Christ and being baptized in the Holy Spirit. To listen to yesterday’s message just click here.
3 things to remember about Harvest Church.
1. It is a place that you can Discover Your Destiny! 2. It is a place where people do life together 3. It is a place where the presence of God is to help people who are in need
Have you ever been thinking about so many things that your brain feels fried or gets overloaded??? Man I am so there right now. When I feel like this I just want to get away for a few days and not think about anything. But, it is hard for me to not think about anything….(except when my wife ask me “what are you thinking about” and I say “nothing”) Any other husbands do that??
Anyway, I just called and someone had there baby so I get to go and visit them now. (that was random!!) But it really happened just now.
