The Holy Spirit Has a Will or Desires He wants to come to pass.

I Thes. 5:18
Acts 16:6 “Forbidden by the HS…”  Forbidden: to exert your will.
If you want to know the will of God then get to know God.
The Bible tells you the general will of God. “Don’t steel”, etc.  If you want to know how to treat your spouse then read the Bible.  But it won’t tell you WHO your spouse should be.  The GENERAL will: His WORD.  The SPECIFIC will: His VOICE.

There were generations when only ONE person heard the voice of God.  But now each of us as Christ Followers has a Person living in us that is God so therefore knows the will of God!  Because the Holy Spirit came EVERYBODY can hear God!  You cannot have a personal relationship with someone THROUGH someone else. Example: “Would you go ask my wife how many kids she wants us to have?” Ackward!   Or, “PK, will you go ask God His will for my life?”  Ummm… NO!  I can here God with you not for you.  Jesus came so you could have a personal relationship with God!

If you want to know the will of God then get to know God!

God Has a Mind… The Holy Spirit as a mind… thoughts! Ideas!
Omniscience-All knowing.  God has all knowledge or science. “I will lead you & guide you into ALL TRUTH.”  How can God the Holy Spirit lead you into ALL TRUTH unless He knows ALL Truth?  Well, He does know it all.
What is God’s IQ?  (Intelligence Quotient) He doesn’t have one.  You can’t measure it.  He just has “I” – not Q.  (quotient).  God can’t think of something He’s never thought of before.  It just occurred to me that nothing ever occurs to God. 
You have someone living inside of you that knows everything about everything & He has committed Himself to being your teacher! You ought to have a better day now just remembering that!

The Holy Spirit inside of us tries to help us THINK what God thinks, DESIRE what God desires, &  FEEL what God feels.
The “OMNI’S” of God speak of His soul. Omniscience: all knowing; Omnipotence: All Power (His will)  ; Omnipresence (His feelings)
You have 5 senses in the natural, but you also have spiritual “senses”.
Sight – God wants you to SEE in the spirit.
Sound – God wants you to HEAR His voice.
Smell – “something smells fishy!”  Discernment is “smelling” in the spirit.

So trust the intuition on the inside of you.  If you are a Christ Follower, it could be the Holy Spirit trying to communicate with your heart the mind, will and emotions of God!

Is the Holy Spirit a Person?

Entire theological systems, like Jehovah’s Witnesses & Star Wars ,  are built around The Holy Spirit being a force.    But if you don’t know & believe He is a person then you will never have a personal relationship with Him.

But really “Holy Spirit” is a description:  God The Father. God The Son. God The Holy Spirit. So really His name is GOD.  Holy Spirit describes His function. But HE is a PERSON.  “What constitutes a person?” A person has LIFE but so does a tree & it’s not a person.  A person has to have a personality. And a person has a soul.

Matt. 12:18  The Father has a soul:  “My Beloved in whom My soul is well pleased.”

Matt. 26:38 The Son, Jesus, has a soul:  “My SOUL is exceedingly sorrowful.”

Hebrews 10:38  The Spirit has a soul:  “Anyone who draws back My SOUL has no pleasure in him.”

But what IS a Soul? Its composed of 3 parts: a mind, a will, & emotions.  God has a mind; He has a will & He has emotions.

One thing we all have in common at Harvest Church is that we are all uniquely screwed up in our own special way.    Everybody is working on something… or should I say, GOD is working on everybody!  We may all be at different places on the path but its all the same journey.  One thing I’m learning is that God is really into PROCESS.  Yeah, I wish I was instantly perfect, but I’m still a work in progress.  The Holy Spirit is chiseling away everything in me that doesn’t look like Jesus.   When I was born-again “old things passed away & all things became new” but we are all still “working out our (own) salvation with fear & trembling.”

So be encouraged today – maybe you’re not where you want to be but thank God you’re not where you use to be!   Keep moving!  Join a Small Group!

Daniel Webster rightly noted: “God grants liberty only to those who love it and are always ready to guard and defend it.”

Is there anything trying to kill the liberty that Christ has purchased for you? Are you allowing something to come between you & your most important relationships?

We cannot take our walk with God for granted – we must guard it.  The same is true concerning our relationship with our spouse & kids; with our team & our friends.

“Guard that which has been entrusted to your care.”
